Jay Doherty
President and Founder
Jay Doherty is a journalist, producer, and founder of JD Media whose work explores the intersection of storytelling, culture, faith, and public life.
He founded JD Media in 2020, building the company from a small voiceover business into an international media operation serving clients in more than 70 countries. Across more than 1,400 projects, Jay’s work has supported brands and organizations including the Olympics, Pringles, Kellogg’s, Duolingo, and others, with productions appearing in stadiums, advertising campaigns, documentaries, and digital platforms around the world.
Alongside his work with JD Media, Jay has pursued journalism and documentary filmmaking. He spent two years with CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360°, first as an intern and later as a production assistant, contributing to coverage of presidential debates, national political conventions, severe weather, the 2024 presidential election, and other major breaking news events.
At WFUV, Fordham University’s public radio station, Jay reported on politics, culture, religion, and community life. His reporting included interviews with public officials, authors, advocates, and ordinary people navigating extraordinary circumstances. His documentary work has taken him from Los Angeles in the aftermath of devastating wildfires to Zambia, where he spent several weeks filming a long-form project about faith, community, and service.
Jay graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University in 2026, where he studied digital media, journalism, theology, and philosophy. He spent a semester abroad studying theology and history at New College, Oxford.
In 2027, Jay will begin graduate study at Harvard University, where he plans to continue exploring questions of religion, society, media, and public service.
At the center of all of his work is a simple curiosity about people believe, what they build, what gives their lives meaning, and how their stories can help us understand existence better.
