What is email marketing?

Email marketing is the use of email to promote products, services, online courses, etc. However, in my opinion, a better email marketing definition is the use of email to develop relationships with potential customers and/or clients. Email marketing is the best way to advertise over the internet.

Your email list is crucial to the success of your business because it’s the most direct way for you to communicate with your audience, fans, and potential future customers.


My favorite part of email marketing

The best, most amazing part of email marketing is the ability to have particular groups of individuals be targeted with certain emails that can best serve them. Offering individual customers special deals on merchandise and/or services as an email to EVERYONE on your list is not personal, and frankly it never will be. The process of allowing your customers to choose what emails they get is referred to as segmentation. This process does take time, but as I know from experience, it boosts your email open rates by at least 20% due to this personalization.

But that is just one of the many benefits email marketing has to offer. The best email  marketing best practices include developing your own email list rather than buying an email list(s) and making participation in your email list opt-in rather than opt-out (using permission-based email marketing).

To add onto what I was saying about not buying email lists, it is by far the absolute WORST thing you could ever do. I’ve said this in the past, even if you don’t buy their email address, you should never add them to your list without permission, but there is no shame in encouraging them to sign up.

  • 75% of adult online users say that email marketing is their preferred marketing method

Why did I make this course?
