94 – Coincidence? I think not: Mueller, Obama, and Cummings

The Jay Doherty Podcast

Episode 94

We take a quick look back at the Mueller report and analyze the very consistent strategies both Democrats and Republicans used. Also, the traditionally quiet former President Barack Obama has taken a recent public stance against Donald Trump as evidenced by a tweet that linked to a recent Op-Ed cosigned by nearly 150 Democrats condemning Trump’s “Go Back” comments. Finally, we’ll talk about why Trump attacked congressman Elijah Cummings about the conditions of his district after Cummings has criticized the Trump Administration’s inhumane conditions at the border. Find out why I think this attack is particularly vexatious.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Testimony

  • Republicans wanted to waste Mueller’s time and rant about why the President did nothing wrong (echoing some of the President’s previous statements like “total exoneration”, “no collusion”, etc) while Mueller tried to interfere and correct them in certain cases. Many of them ending by saying his investigation was unfair in some way.
  • Democrats wanted him to spill any information that would be damaging to the President and also go beyond restating what was in the original report. Dems were also mad that Mueller said he’s not going to address anything related to the report after he published it. In other words, he was not going to comment on what AG Bill Barr has said, or what Congress has questioned him about prior to Mueller’s testimony.

“We’ve heard this before. Go back where you came from. Go back to Africa. And now, “send her back.”

My thoughts… they are equalizing his comments to traditionally racist and blatantly offensive attacks. Also, “send her back” is the quote from his supporters. I assume Obama meant to reiterate everything in this Op-Ed and will interpret it as such.Perfect length; 5 paragraphs.
